Why change, when everything's great?
Robert Graham (Fence Post, April 23) is worried that the change that either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton would bring to the country would be "a disaster" .
Not to worry...why ever would we want to change anything, I mean just look at how wonderful things are today.
Yes, we have a couple of wars going on (but that surge in Iraq sure has been miraculous!) OK, the value of the dollar has dropped to the point that many foreign countries won't accept it anymore, but so what? Gas prices? What's a few more dollars a gallon? The record loss of high-paying jobs overseas? Hey, there are still plenty of jobs out there. In fact, if you want, you can have two or three of them and experience our new service economy in all its glory!
Health insurance? Well, stay away from sick people and avoid accidents and you won't need it!
Dramatic increase in poverty? C'mon, get a job!
Yup, things are great out there, we sure don't want some woman or "Afro-American " (I haven't heard that term used since the 1970s) stirring things up trying to change things.
I just heard of a great new activity for family bonding and relaxation - home foreclosure bus tours! Just think of the good times and memories, going from one foreclosed house to the next, guessing which homes in the neighborhood are in foreclosure. It's enough to bring tears to your eyes!
