Asian Fusion Fest on tap
The Asian American Community of Elgin will host its third annual Asian Fusion Festival as part of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration from 3 to 9:30 p.m. today at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 100 Symphony Way. Cultural arts and a mini-bazaar are free for viewing. Tickets for evening cultural performances are $10 for children 10 and younger and $20 for adults. Throughout the day there will be craft demonstrations, including Indonesian Batik Printing by Dharma Wanita Persatuan, Thai Fruits Carving, Beadwork and Chinese Calligraphy painting by Yellow River Performing Arts. Old-fashioned ice cream
The Friends of Centerville School and the Dundee Township Historical Society will host their annual old-fashioned ice cream social from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Randall Oaks Park, 17N070 Randall Road, Dundee Township. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors can turn the crank on an old-fashioned ice cream machine to make their own frozen treat. A "school marm" also will teach class in the one-room Centerville School schoolhouse, and members of the Fox Valley Model T Club will showoff vintage cars. Call (847) 428-6996.
