In hard times, you can depend on God's goodness
"(What, what would have become of me) had I not believed to see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living!"
-- Psalm 27:13( AMP)
Have you seen the price at the gas pumps lately?
This is a common statement these days.
The buzz about the country's economical state can be overheard in just about any lunchroom, phone conversation or business meeting.
Rising prices and stagnant salaries have people struggling every way they can to save a dollar. Cutting back in one area of their budgets to meet another only causes hardships on businesses and overall economical spending.
Layoffs and long unemployment lines leave people with feelings of fear and insecurity. They start wondering when and where will this end? It starts getting hard to believe anything good will happen for them.
In the midst of perplexing natural disasters, economic upheavals and personal problems, the one thing we can depend on is God's goodness.
God's goodness is the foundation of our faith. God doesn't cause bad things to happen. Those things occur from the evil and greed sown into men's heart when they succumb to the devil's temptations.
But in the midst of cloudy days, we can still depend on the goodness of God to come through. Believing in God's goodness causes us to see miracles, healing and restoration taking place where none existed before.
Trusting in God's goodness stretches our faith. When our faith grows, God can move on our behalf beyond what we even expected.
David wrote a large portion of the biblical Psalms. Woven throughout them was a theme of David's trials and terrors. However, the one thing that stands out is that David trusted in God's goodness to get him through, and God did.
When we get weary from life's trials and frustrations, it is beneficial to our souls to meditate on God's goodness. If we stick with it like David, eventually we'll find ourselves possessing a winning attitude.
