Fumes scare airline crew
A Southwest Airlines plane bound for Chicago from Phoenix landed at Midway International Airport after crew on board reported smelling fumes in the cockpit.
Officials said none of the 142 people on board were injured. Aviation department spokeswoman Karen Pride said Southwest Airlines Flight 2638 landed just before 11 a.m. and passengers were unloaded at the gate.
A spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines said crew reported "an odor in the cockpit," which maintenance crews checked after landing. Spokeswoman Ashley Rogers said there was a problem with the plane's air conditioner.
