Arts center Raku event coming soon

The Fine Line Creative Arts Center at 6N158 Crane Road in St. Charles is presenting its annual Raku day and open house in June.

The Raku preview night is from 5 to 8:30 p.m. June 13, and the open house is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 14. Admission is free.

Participants can purchase a $40 ticket and get first pick of the unglazed pottery and glazes, a picnic dinner and receive a $15 coupon toward your unfired piece.

Guests can also purchase a bisque (fired once) piece of pottery made by Fine Line potters and take it to a glaze table where they are taught to glaze. The whole process takes about two hours. There will also be food available for purchase and art demonstrations in indigo dying, handmade paper, knitting, beading, painting and weaving.

The Fine Line Creative Arts Center provides year-round classes and workshops in a wide range of media including weaving, knitting, crochet, dyeing, jewelry, pottery, basketry, painting, stained glass, blacksmithing and drawing.
