Too much money spent for votes

Every time I hear the candidates have raised exorbitant millions of dollars for their campaigns, I cringe because of how many schools that would build, how many teachers could be paid, how many children could be fed, etc., etc.

Why can't we use Europe's short campaigns and put that money to worthwhile use?

Hope some enterprising reporter will add up all the millions spent after the election and show how we set priorities.
