Thanks for helping feed the hungry

The board, volunteers and staff of the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry wish to extend our appreciation for the time and effort involved in two recent food drives, as well as for the community members who donated food.

The National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger food drive was held on May 10. We recognize and appreciate that many of the letter carriers work extra hours, without pay, to make this happen. Likewise, we extend our thanks to all who helped with the recent food drive held by the Kiwanis Club of Glen Ellyn and its family of clubs.

These efforts will help stock our shelves as we head into the summer; however, the months ahead will prove to be difficult for the pantry. The schools and clubs that we rely on for donations throughout the school year take a vacation during the summer months and our shelves become desperately bare. Unfortunately, hunger does not take a vacation and we encourage the community to continue to remember us in the coming months with monetary and food donations. Monetary donations are used to purchase eggs, milk, cheese, meat and other perishable items made available to each of our clients.

On behalf of the many families in our community who are served by the pantry, we thank you for your generosity. For more information or to make a donation, please contact the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry at (630) 469-8668. The Pantry is located at Grace Lutheran Church at 493 Forest Avenue, Glen Ellyn.
