Moody president resigns

The president of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago says he's resigning for health reasons. Michael J. Easley says he wants to spend more time seeking medical treatment for his back. Easley said Wednesday in a letter that the resignation will become effective June 30. He's been president at the school since February 2005. Easley says he had surgery in November 2007 that required a lengthy medical leave. And he says more treatment is necessary. Trustee Chairman Jerry Jenkins says the board is "disappointed" to lose Easley. They'll immediately begin looking for a replacement. Evangelist Dwight Lyman Moody founded the institute in 1886. It has grown to an undergraduate and graduate school, publishing houses and a broadcast network.
