Lap dance theft settled without charges

Two lap dances at a club outside Elgin nearly landed a man in jail recently on theft charges, police said Wednesday.

About 7:30 p.m. May 14, a dancer at Blackjack's Gentlemen's Club, 7N657 Route 25, contacted the Kane County Sheriff's Department to report that an unidentified man had just left the adult establishment without paying $60 for two dances she performed for him.

According to a police report, the two had agreed on a price of $30 for each act lasting the duration of one song, but the man refused to pay after twice receiving the services.

Using descriptions of the customer and a vehicle he might have been driving in, police said they tracked down and confronted the man, who opted to pay the $60 rather than be arrested on a charge of theft of services.

According to a report, the man gave police three $20 bills, which were later hand-delivered to the woman.

The police report, made public Wednesday, did not identify the man or the woman.
