Cardinal George is insensitive to flock
I don't think Cardinal George makes any decisions based on the good of parishioners or parishes.
It seems he's more concerned with issues of control, power and humiliation of others.
I attended a meeting a few years ago at which the cardinal spoke.
First, he was asked about an issue, possibly women's ordinations, and he responded that it would never happen.
Then he said, "I'm just telling you what the church teaches. If you don't like it, leave." What a comment from a man who considers himself to be a shepherd!
His second comment concerned the priest shortage in general, not just in the Chicago archdiocese.
His response? "Since only 25 percent of Catholics practice their faith, we have enough priests to take care of them."
No interest or concern apparently in discovering why 75 percent have left the church or in figuring how to bring them back.
