What's new superintendent's motive?
Dan Lukich, age 61, has just been named the new superintendent of District 15. I offer a few comments on his appointment.
First, at his age how long will he be on the job? I think that a superintendent should be able to serve for a minimum of 10 years in order to be able to establish policy and witness the results. I doubt if Mr. Lukich will be on the job for five years.
Second, I wonder if Mr. Lukich is primarily interested in staying long enough to qualify for a pension from the Illinois State Teacher's Fund?
I also wonder if he is currently collecting a pension from the State of Ohio.
I have been a Palatine resident since 1969 and have seen school superintendents serve short tenures, ignore their contract terms, and receive enormous salaries.
We don't need millionaire superintendents guiding the education of our children.
