Aurora Central students receive scholarships

The Aurora Central Catholic High School Alumni Association awards scholarships and certificates of achievement to incoming freshmen based on placement exam results. The Alumni Association has announced the recipients for the 2008-09 school year.

• The Central Scholarship has been awarded to Nathan Johnson (DeKalb), graduate of St. Mary's Catholic Grade School, in DeKalb. This is a four year renewable scholarship based on his score on the January Placement Exam.

• The Madonna Scholarship has been awarded to Erin Canning (Aurora), graduate of Bednarcik Grade School in Aurora. This is a four year renewable scholarship based on her score on the January Placement Exam.

• The Roncalli Scholarship has been awarded to Michael Siebert (DeKalb), graduate of St. Mary's Catholic Grade School, in DeKalb. This is a four year renewable scholarship based on his score on the January Placement Exam.

• The Alumni Scholarship has been awarded to Emily Schwender (St. Charles), graduate of St. Patrick Catholic Grade School in St. Charles. This is a four year renewable scholarship based on her score on the January Placement Exam.

Certificate of Achievement Scholarships have been awarded to the following students. These are one-time scholarships based on their score on the January Placement Exam.

• Jose Luis Jacquez (Aurora) graduate of Archbishop Romero Catholic Grade School, in Aurora.

• Brenda Guzman (Aurora) graduate of Archbishop Romero Catholic Grade School, in Aurora.

• Maggie Wright (Aurora) graduate of Holy Angels Catholic Grade School, in Aurora.

• Ryan Baker (North Aurora) graduate of Holy Angels Catholic Grade School, in Aurora.

• Ashley Wilk (Aurora) graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Grade School, in Aurora.

Meanwhile, the Aurora Central Catholic High School Booster Club awards scholarships to incoming freshmen based on placement test results. The Booster Club has announced its recipients for the 2008/2009 school year.

• Bailey Shemenski (North Aurora), graduate of St. Rita Catholic Grade School, in Aurora. This is a four year renewable scholarship based on her score on the January Placement Exam.

• Matt Czerak (Aurora) graduate of St. Rita Catholic Grade School in Aurora. This is a four year renewable scholarship based on his score on the January Placement Exam.

The following are 2008/2009 Renewable Scholarship Recipients. These are scholarships that were awarded to these students when they enrolled at Aurora Central Catholic High School as freshman. Scholarships were originally received based on the results of their Placement Exam. These students may renew these scholarships each year by maintaining a 3.0 grade point average.
