This is no time to elect a rookie

The general elections are just a few short months away, but I hope the voters will not make the same mistake that was made in 2000 and 2004.

We have learned that it takes more than a rookie to be president.

It will take an experienced politician to clean up after taking office on Jan. 21 and not someone who as a state's senator has voted "present" on many, many issues.

On many of those issues, a yes or not answer (vote) would also give voters a better understanding of Sen. Barack Obama. The next president must bring a long resume because it won't be a position where you learn as you go.

He is a fantastic speaker, very motivational, but not ready to clean up after George W. Bush. Could he be a good, inspirational vice president? I don't know. But I would like him to try to run in 2012 with more experience.

Don't be fooled and make another mistake such as we made in 2000 and 2004. We would never recover.
