Baptist

Faith Baptist Church invites the community to its final worship service at 10:30 a.m. and a concert at 6 p.m. June 1 at 15 N. Washington St. in downtown Batavia. The worship service and concert will celebrate the conclusion of 172 years (1836 - 2008) at the downtown location. The church is moving to a new building on west Main Street.

Faith Baptist Church concludes its ministry in this building with a piano concert at 6 p.m. by the renowned and internationally known pianist Huntley Brown. Brown appears around the world with the Billy Graham Evangelistic services.

As the resident pianist on Chicago's TV Channel 38, Brown can be heard daily on "Among Friends" with host Jerry Rose.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the event is free to the public. Donations will be accepted.

Jewish

Join Fox Valley Jewish Neighbors when speaker Nina Amir presents "How To Create Sacred Space and Invite the Divine to Dwell Within It" at 7 p.m. Friday at 121 S. Third St., Geneva.

Amir will also guide participants through "7 Simple Steps to Transforming Empty Rituals into Meaning-full and Spirit-full Practices."

Amir will instruct participants in building a mishkan, a sacred space, in the home. She will also discuss how to use Shabbat candle lighting as a means not only to create that sacred space but as a way into Jewish spiritual practice.

Spiritual and Kabbalah coach, journalist and author, Amir, a former Batavia resident, is coming from her home in California to share her Jewish perspective on practical spirituality.

The evening will begin with a Shabbat service. This event is for Jewish and interfaith adults and teens, is free and open to the public, and is co-sponsored by the Aurora Jewish Welfare Fund.
