Voters need a race in 62nd District

On May 1, the Lake County Electoral Board issued a ruling denying me the right to run for Illinois State Representative in the 62nd District.

I didn't expect that my campaign would begin with an expensive legal battle over the right to offer the voters of our district a choice in November. I believe it is not in the public's interest for the incumbent to ride unopposed to re-election. I have therefore requested the assistance of the Democratic Party to appeal the electoral board's ruling, and with their help I hope to restore my candidacy and give the voters a real choice this year.

My thanks to all those who have called with support and encouragement.
