Man files suit over wife's death

The husband of a woman who slipped and fell at a department in store in Carol Stream filed suit Wednesday, alleging she died as a result of the medical treatment she needed from the fall.

Jacquelyn Dodaro was shopping at the store on May 21, 2006, when she slipped and fell on lotion on the floor near the cosmetics department of Value City department store, 1175 N. Gary Ave., said her attorney Edmund Scanlan.

Dodaro injured her leg and had surgery to repair it, and afterward was prescribed a pain medication. That medicine then contributed to her death by "propoxyphene intoxication," Scanlan said.

The suit was brought by Chris Dodaro, the woman's husband, who was with her at the time of the fall.

No one at corporate headquarters for Value City could be reached later Wednesday evening for comment. The suit seeks damages for wrongful death in excess of $50,000.
