Pavelec (11-5), held off 30 of 31 shots in his fifth straight win. The 20-year-old has allowed just 3 goals in his last four games, which includes only 2 goals during the conference finals. The rookie has surrendered 1 or fewer goals in eight of his 16 postseason appearances, and his goals-against average (1.98) and save percentage (.934) are the best among AHL goalies still in the Calder Cup playoffs.

Right wing Darren Haydar contributed a 3-assist effort, while defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski had a goal and assist. Kwiatkowski's goal, his sixth of the playoffs, set a franchise record for postseason goals by a defenseman.

"We played as a team and certainly used momentum to our advantage tonight," Kwiatkowski said. "We have to come out just as hard tomorrow because they are a very good team. There's not much time to rest here."
