Buying EJ&E won't speed things up

The Canadian National Railway wants to own the EJ&E to expand and improve its freight capabilities. It will expedite the movement of freight around Chicago, they say. Is this a good idea? It should move things faster. Will it happen? I think not.

As a 76-year-old biker, I have crossed some of its grade crossings; the one near the "quaint-looking" village of Wayne comes to mind. Why won't it happen? We have too many roadways, houses - and people in the way. "Hastert"s Highway" between I-88 and I-80 in western Kane County is more likely.
