Man charged with paying girls to strip
Round Lake Park police have nabbed a man they say offered money to girls after asking them to remove clothes or perform a sex act.
Ernest "Greg" Rector, 40, of 208 Newhouse Lane in Round Lake Park, was being held Tuesday in lieu of a $50,000 bond at the Lake County jail in Waukegan.
Rector was charged with three counts of indecent solicitation of a child. Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said charges against the suspect were approved Monday after investigators questioned him at police headquarters.
Filenko said the three separate solicitation incidents occurred in or near Round Lake Park homes in the past year and that the girls were familiar with Rector. Filenko said police are trying to narrow the dates.
On separate days, Rector offered money to 9- and 10-year-old girls as an unsuccessful enticement for them to remove clothing, Filenko said. He said Rector also tried to pay a 16-year-old girl for a sex act on another occasion.
"My concern is we have three separate victims here," Filenko said.
Filenko said the three girls have been interviewed by police. In addition, he said, investigators have found individuals who heard about the incidents from the girls.
Police began probing Rector after receiving a tip May 12 about inappropriate behavior by an adult.
