Man accused in attack on teenager

A reputed street-gang member was accused Monday of being part of an attack on a teenager who also was threatened with a gun, Carpentersville police said.

Two others ran off after the attack at 7 p.m. Monday on the 100 block of Golfview Lane, police said.

Oscar Manuel Oliva-Aldape, 18, of 20 Ash St., Carpentersville, was charged with aggravated battery and felony mob action, police said.

The victim said he had made a negative remark about Oliva-Aldape two days earlier, police said.

Oliva-Aldape and two other members of his street gang encountered the victim walking along Golfview Lane Monday evening.

One of the three punched him in the face with his fist and a second pointed a pistol at the victim.

Oliva-Aldape yelled "get him" to the gang member holding the pistol as officers arrived, police said.

Oliva-Aldape was caught by East Dundee police on the 3000 block of Wakefield Drive and was taken to the Carpentersville police station where he was held overnight, police said.

The two other street gang members are being sought by Carpentersville police.

Oliva-Aldape was unable to post a $2,000 bond and was taken to the Kane County jail Tuesday morning.

He is scheduled to appear in court again June 5 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
