Carpentersville shooting investigation continues

Carpentersville police continued their investigation Tuesday of the shooting of a 33-year-old man a few minutes before 5 p.m. Monday at 14 Oxford Drive in the Fox View Apartment Complex.

Police said that when they arrived at 5:02 p.m. Monday, they found the victim wandering around a building on Middlesex.

When officers talked to him, he never mentioned he had been shot in the abdomen.

A relative told police the man was shot, requested an ambulance and paramedics were called to the scene.

Carpentersville paramedics took the victim to Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where he was pronounced in stable condition later in the evening.

Carpentersville Police Chief David Neumann said Tuesday, "A man was shot Monday evening, and he is expected to recover. His wound doesn't appear to be life-threatening."

Carpentersville Police Cmdr. Michael Kilbourne said, "Police are going to attempt to interview the victim again this afternoon (Tuesday) in the hospital."

No one was in custody Tuesday evening in connection with the shooting.

Police believe the shooting was the result of an argument.

Police said they were encountering the same problem they have faced during so many previous incidents at the housing complex; it was 5 p.m., and no one saw anything and no one knew anything.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call (847) 551-3481.
