It's time to get to work on solutions
The atmosphere in Springfield has come to an all-time low, while the Democrat leaders continue to play their political games.
We are nowhere near tackling serious issues such as budget shortfalls and the crumbling infrastructure.
The state is in serious need for improved roads, bridges and school buildings.
Around the state, we have roads destroyed by potholes the size of moon craters, bridges in worse shape than the one that collapsed in Minnesota and school buildings bursting at the seams with students.
For the last seven years, since the Democrats have controlled the state, we have not had an infrastructure program to take care of these needs. Nothing!
I beg to differ with House Speaker Michael Madigan's spokesman, Steve Brown, who told the Daily Herald that Republicans have been holding up capital spending proposals.
As early as last year, the House Republicans introduced a capital plan, which has been stalled by Speaker Madigan himself.
While legislators work around the clock negotiating on a capital bill, Speaker Madigan refuses to even participate in the meetings.
He has continued to block any capital bill from passing the House, let alone even calling the Republican plan for a vote - a process he solely controls as the Speaker of the House.
It's time to stop pointing fingers and get to work. The taxpayers of Illinois deserve a government that works for them, not against them.
Government for the people? I don't think so, at least not in Illinois.
