Honk if you hate high gas prices
Do you think our politicians are listening to our cries for relief in terms of the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel these days? I don't.
They call Senate hearings and listen to some over-compensated executive state his excuses for tens of billions of dollars in profits. With the same result … nothing. Don't you think that by now our legislature would be growing weary of the same old rhetoric? A wonderfully worded oration with little or no meaning and certainly no commitments. Is this what the public wants? I think not!
Certainly not me! I am sick and tired of having to give up something new every time I need to refuel. I can't help but think of my buddy in Texas who has to drive 90 miles one way to work. Yep, six days a week with a full size pickup full of welding equipment. Can you imagine what kind of sacrifice he has to make just to earn a living?
Well I think it's about time we are heard. I intend to let our political leaders hear my cry and would like all of you to join me. And here is how we do it.
May 30 is our traditional Memorial Day. It also happens to land on the last Friday of the month. I would like to suggest that everyone who is fed up like me and uses gasoline or diesel honk their horn at the top of the hour, every two hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning on May 30, and then on the last Friday of the month thereafter, until Labor Day.
If they don't listen to our cries, perhaps they'll listen to our horns. Are you with me? Let's sound off together!
