Truck crashes, spills 14 tons of Oreos

Police said a trailer loaded with 14 tons of Double Stuf Oreos overturned Monday morning in Morris, spilling plastic sleeves of cookies into the median and roadway.
Illinois State Police Sgt. Brian Mahoney said the truck's driver was traveling from Chicago to Morris on I-80 around 4 a.m. Monday when he fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into the median.
Mahoney said the force of the crash ripped open boxes of the cookies, but their plastic wrappers kept them from covering the ground.
The crash remains under investigation.
Mahoney said no charges have been filed but both lanes of traffic remained closed while authorities remove the cookies.
