Antioch's Trout: It's time to get out

Charlie Trout has done a lot for Antioch High School as a soccer head coach over the past couple of decades.

Through 17 years coaching the girls, he's amassed a record of 213 wins, 127 losses and 41 ties. For the boys, Trout was 115-67-16 in nine years of off-and-on coaching. He compiled an incredible overall record of 328-194-57.

After 21 years of leading, Trout has decided to step away from being a head coach.

"You get to a certain point and I figure, 'What else can I do but move on?' " said Trout, who is looking forward to more time with his family. "I decided it was the right time."

Trout has spent a total of 36 years being involved in soccer. He has also coached four years in track and five more in basketball.

Trout made his decision after the Sequoits won the North Suburban Prairie Division title over District rival Lakes. Antioch ended up losing in the NSC Championship 1-0 to Lake Forest in 2 overtimes.

Trout would still like to coach the lower levels of the girls soccer program.

Trout coached a sectional finalist girls soccer team in 2005.

He led the boys sectional championship appearances in 1989, 1990 and 1998, including a North Suburban Championship in 1990 and a NSC Prairie Division title in 2005.
