OSHA fines United $190,000 for O'Hare workplace violations
The U.S. Department of Labor says it's fining United Airlines more than $190,000 for workplace safety violations at O'Hare International Airport.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Tuesday it found more than three dozen violations.
Their inspection of the Chicago-based carrier began in November after reviewing injury and illness data for the subsidiary of UAL Corp.
The government says the carrier committed serious health violations related to the storage of liquids. It also found "respiratory protection program deficiencies."
Airline spokeswoman Megan McCarthy says United's committed to maintaining a safe environment for employees and customers.
And she says United's has taken "immediate action" to fix problems found by federal inspectors.
