Movie music concert
A pops concert featuring St. Charles East High School musicians is planned for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Road. This is East's final concert of the school year; it will feature music from movies such as "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Jurassic Park" and "Patton," among others. Admission is $3. Dragon boat racers sought
Entries are being accepted for the dragon boat races at this year's Pride of the Fox RiverFest June 7-8 in St. Charles. Team entry fees are $425 and include paddles, life jackets, boats coaching and practice sessions. About 20 people are needed for one boating team. The deadline to enter is May 26. Remember war heroes
The Batavia Cares group is producing a BATV program about local residents who have died in war, to be aired on Memorial Day. Summer reading clubs
The Geneva Public Library, 127 James St., begins registration for its summer reading program, "Get in the Game: READ!" May 28. There are four reading clubs for children. Register in the youth services department. Each child must have a valid Geneva Public Library card. Children can earn prizes June 11 through Aug. 4.
The Lettermen to perform
Sixties-era pop stars The Lettermen are scheduled to perform May 31 at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles. The group, known for its harmonies and arrangements, won popularity with its first single, "The Way You Look Tonight," in 1961, followed by the Top 10 hit "When I Fall in Love" in 1962. Eco poster contest
Tell people how to save the environment in a Geneva poster contest for children in grades kindergarten through 12th. All artwork must be on an 11-by-14-inch white poster board. The top 20 entries will be displayed at the Swedish Days "Green Geneva -- An Eco-Fun Expo" in June, and a goodie basket will be awarded to three entrants. To register, write your name, address, phone number, age and grade as of May 31. Drop it off at the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, 8 S. Third St., by 4:30 p.m. June 6.
Police seek volunteers
St. Charles police are soliciting volunteers to help plan neighborhood celebrations of National Night Out, which is Aug. 5. This year, police are moving the crime prevention party from Pottawatomie Park to several individual neighborhoods. Officials are looking for citizens willing to help host to these events. Interested residents and neighborhood associations can get involved by calling (630) 443-3730 on or before June 15.
