Elgin man posts bail

A 65-year-old Elgin man posted $15,000 bail Saturday to get out of jail on three alleged sex offenses.

Longtime Elgin resident Salvador Camacho was charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a report. Camacho lives at 152 Westgate Drive, according to a booking officer at the Kane County jail.

He posted bail and was awaiting release but must follow several court-ordered restrictions, including wearing an electronic home monitoring ankle bracelet, until his next court hearing May 30.

Camacho, appearing in court for a bond hearing Saturday morning, said he had lived in Elgin more than 50 years and has no criminal history. He was arrested Friday by Elgin detectives.

The case was investigated by the Kane County Child Advocacy Center, the Elgin police said. The advocacy center investigates some cases involving children for the state's attorney's office.

No information was given at the bond hearing about when the offenses occurred or about the victims.

Assistant Kane County State's Attorney Liz Lovig asked for a $200,000 bond because she said Camacho posed a possible flight risk.

Kane County Judge Patricia Golden set his bond at $150,000, meaning he would have to post 10 percent of that for release and set several conditions if Camacho posts his bond.

First, Camacho can have no contact with the alleged victims and cannot go to their residences.

Second, he must post his passport with the court before he is released from jail.

Third, he will have to wear an electronic home monitoring ankle bracelet until he sees Kane County Judge Robert Spence on May 30.

Camacho posted the $15,000 at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Kane County jail and was being processed to be released.
