Recall gives people power to reform

I am deeply troubled and offended by the actions taken by the Democrats who voted down our chance for real change, hope and reform of state government. These Democrats have denied the voters their right to consider a recall amendment on the Nov. 4 ballot. In light of the problems facing this state, their reasons were baseless.

Currently, Illinois is hemorrhaging with scandal and corruption. By raising public awareness and scrutiny, I firmly believe that the behavior of elected officials would change with recall.

Most importantly, don't be fooled by those opponents of recall who offer impeachment as an alternative. I do not believe impeachment of this governor by these Democrats is realistic. The notion of impeachment is just another clever tactic for them to avoid responsibility and accountability on the issue of recall. Based on my time in the Legislature, and the gross misuse of power and self-serving manipulation that I have seen in the last several years, I do not believe that the Democrat-controlled Senate, led by President Emil Jones, will ever give impeachment a fair and impartial hearing.

Recall is the only way to truly reform the behavior of our elected leaders in government. It is about reform, it is about the people, it is about inviting them to participate in state government and hold their elected officials accountable for their choices and actions.
