Last chance to apply for Lake Zurich principal job
Today is the last day Lake Zurich Unit District 95 will accept applications for a new principal for Lake Zurich High School.
The vacancy was created because current principal Mike Egan is expected to be appointed District 95's assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction at next Thursday's school board meeting.
Egan replaces Beverly Smith, who is resigning at the end of this school year to join the educational leadership department at Illinois State University in Bloomington.
District 95 Superintendent Brian Knutson said there was no nationwide search done to fill that post because Egan was the best candidate.
"With his vast experience in all areas of secondary education and his thorough knowledge of our schools, students, staff and the community, Dr. Egan has both the knowledge and experience to help make our schools even better centers for learning," Knutson said in a press release.
Egan earned his doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy studies at Loyola University. He has a certificate of advanced studies in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University, and a master's degree in the teaching of reading from Northern Illinois University.
He formerly served as dean of students and an assistant principal for pupil personnel services in Park Forest, Ill., and as an English/reading teacher in Mundelein.
Egan oversaw Lake Zurich High School's $40 million facility expansion.
The job of leading the school of 2,234 students comes with a salary of roughly $110,000. Applicants post should send resumes to julia.becich@lz95.org
