Cougars blanked by Ceder Rapids
Kane County Cougars right-hander Scott Mitchinson pitched a third straight quality start Tuesday night but came out on the short end of a 2-0 loss against the Cedar Rapids Kernels in front of 4,192 at Elfstrom Stadium.
The Cougars' offense managed only 3 hits in the game, which had a 94-minute rain delay in the seventh inning.
Mitchinson (3-1) gave up his only run in the fifth inning and yielded 4 hits, walked one and struck out seven in his first loss of the season.
