Children's facility needs help

Allendale Association, a not-for-profit children's facility in Lake Villa, is looking for qualified volunteers.

There are opportunities for volunteers working directly with children or on other projects, including:

• Big Pals: Help a child develop positive relationships with adults as a mentor and friend.

• Greenhouse Tutor: Volunteering in the vocational horticultural center.

• Educational Surrogate: This position involves evaluating a student's Individual Education Plan and meeting with the child's therapeutic team several times a year.

• Thrift Store Sales Associate: Work in the Hidden Treasures thrift store in Round Lake Beach, sorting merchandise and serving customers.

There are countless other opportunities for individuals and groups. Training is provided, and all volunteers are carefully screened.
