Goudie's oblivious to state's problems
Mr. Goudie's consistently disinterested attitude from column to column - always in the key of blithe - begins to ring false and a might bit frivolous.
His May 5 column ("What would life in Gov. Antoin Rezko's Illinois be like?") is an unfortunate but perfect example of his complete obliviousness to problems he is supposedly supposed to care about as a professional journalist. He lacks actual perception of the abysmal state of affairs in Illinois government.
It's all just theatre-in-the-round for Mr. Goudie. "Gee, let's make a movie about it! Let's see, Tom Hanks could be the governor, Sean Connery could be Rezko, blah blah blah...."
No, Mr. Goudie, this is not the Land of Lincoln anymore. Lincoln would have scoffed at the men who pose as legislators and "statesmen" (gag) in our state today. Stop trying to be Mike Royko-esque in your burlesque of the whole sordid mess. Doesn't Mr. Goudie care about the future of his own children if they choose to live in Illinois?
Mr. Goudie should bear in mind: What we play parody today, we act in earnest and in all seriousness tomorrow...
