Politicians won't make gas cheaper
Congratulations to the Daily Herald! The article about an investigation into the gas crisis only touched on half the truth. While the points about previous investigations into gouging proved to be futile, which has been the result of such inquiries over the last 30 years, the real question is what will those in total control of this nation do about it? Nothing. Why should they? The elite have no worries. Money is no problem. Transportation is the least of their worries. All they have to do is adjust their budget. After all, there is an endless supply to what they need -- money, and you the taxpayer.
The rich get richer. The middle class get poorer and the poor get more help. The politicians don't care about the bottom two except during re-election. Naturally they care about the wealthy. They have the money. Or more importantly, the power and the votes.
Sen. Richard Durbin's call for an investigation is all smoke and mirrors. If he and his cohorts had any real intention of fixing the situation, they would be suggesting a roll back to a more affordable level of gas prices to spur the economy during the investigation. If they were truly concerned, they would have acted before now. Why wait until the country is in a total economic melt down?
It doesn't matter what political party is in office, they are first and foremost still politicians. Is there anyone out there who remember the call for term limits? Beginning to sound like a good idea?
