Plain Dirt Gardeners: The Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners will host Ken Benson from Triton College, who will have a presentation on growing vegetables May 20.
Socializing is at 6:45 p.m., the presentation is at 7 p.m. and the business meeting is at 8:30 p.m. at the Batavia Public Library on Route 31 and Wilson Street.

Batavia Mothers' Club: The Batavia Mothers' Club is calling for crafters for its 23rd Annual Autumn Arts & Crafts Show. BMCF has consistently assembled a diverse cast of artisans, attracting thousands of patrons. The show will be held Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mooseheart Fieldhouse, just off I-88 on Route 31 near the North Aurora and Batavia border.
The event showcases juried booths of crafters offering handmade items including paintings, drawings, pet accessories, jewelry, dolls and more. Painters and artists specializing in pottery, glass and woodworking are encouraged to apply.

The Autumn Arts & Crafts Show is the Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation's largest fundraiser. Proceeds go to organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for families in need in the community.
Batavia American Legion Post 504: The next meeting of the Batavia American Legion Post 504 will be May 20.
The Batavia American Legion Post 504 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Batavia VFW Post 1197 canteen at 645 So. Water St. in Batavia.

North Aurora Mothers Club and North Aurora Baseball Association: The North Aurora Mothers Club and the North Aurora Baseball Association will be sponsoring their sixth annual North Aurora Baseball Parade May 31.
Beginning at 10 a.m., the parade is a way to showcase the children who participate in the North Aurora Baseball Association programs. This year the parade will begin west of Randall Road because of construction on Oak Street.
The drop off zone for the children, and eventually where the vehicles will line up for the parade, will be the dual cul-de-sac at White Oak Circle, which is just north of Oak Street. The children will line up at the retention pond north of Oak Street between Forest Ridge Drive and White Oak Drive.
The parade route will be White Oak Drive north, with the children walking on the sidewalk heading east to get to the start of the parade route at White Oak Drive.
From White Oak Drive the parade will continue to Hawksley Lane, concluding at Fearn Elementary School, 1600 Hawksley Lane, North Aurora.
The check-in time for the parade will begin as early at 8 a.m. Food and children's activities will be available.
The parade will consist of many teams who participate in the Association's programs as well as police and emergency vehicles, North Aurora Village officials; horses from Huntoon Stables, McGruff the Crime Dog, the Aurora Superstars Football Team, and people from area businesses, clubs, and community groups.

Fox Valley Newcomers and Neighbors: The Fox Valley Newcomers and Neighbors May luncheon is being hosted by the Eagle Brook Country Club restaurant located at 2288 Fargo Blvd. in Geneva on May 21.
The guest speaker will be Monica Bakos, a freelance make-up artist and stylist. Wray will demonstrate how to use make-up to look younger and feel good for the coming summer months.
The cost for this lunch is $25 and the deadline for reservations and payment is Wednesday.
The group's luncheon meetings held at many of the local restaurants in the Fox Valley Area are open to members, prospective members and guests with prepaid reservations. The luncheon meetings afford members an opportunity to socialize before lunch followed by a short business discussion and a program. Social hour begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program concludes around 1:30 p.m.
Annual membership cost $25. If you are new to the area, had a lifestyle change, or are just looking for a friendly, social organization to become involved in, that what this club is for.

Kane County Chapter of Illinois Audubon Society: The Kane County Chapter of the Illinois Audubon Society meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Peck Farm, Peck Road and Kaneville Road (38w199 Kaneville Road) about 1 mile west of Randall Road in Geneva.
The program will be "Belize and Beyond" by Jerry Hope. Hope has been shooting slides for 55 years and loves getting off the beaten trail. For more information call Hope at (630) 377-1444.
On May 17th at 8 a.m., the club will host a bird walk at Big Rock Kane County Forest Preserve. See warblers and other new arrivals. From Geneva, go west to Route 47 and go about 3 miles south of Sugar Grove to Jericho Road. Go west on Jericho about 3.5 miles to the entrance on the right. Meet in the parking lot. The chapter meets at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday each month September through May. Meetings are held in the orientation room, the barn at Peck Farm in Geneva. Field trips, bird walks, and nature hikes are scheduled throughout the year and on meeting nights during June, July and August.
