We need to invent better engines

Your Sunday, April 27, 2008, "Our View" on your Opinion page waffled as much as the topics you attempted to discuss.

About the only point I can agree with you on is that the politicians certainly do not want to bite the hand that feeds their election coffers.

The present officials in office, from municipal to federal levels, are enjoying the tax windfall of escalating fuel prices. This gives them revenue for continuing pet pork projects.

I would suggest your investigative reporters question the facts as to why our tuition laded institutions of higher learning have not produced science majors who are capable of introducing an environmental-friendly, fuel-efficient, internal combustion engine. And if there are people who have accomplished such a machine, why is it not mass produced?

Is it because the big oil guys, engine manufacturers, and politicians are making certain they get their money?

The people of this nation should wake up and insist that sensible, practical, and responsible folks get us on the right economic track.
