Despite his dominating Kentucky Derby performance, as many as a dozen 3-year-olds intend on lining up against Big Brown in next Saturday's Grade I Preakness Stakes, the second jewel of Thoroughbred racing's elusive Triple Crown. Only one of those, Illinois Derby winner Recapturetheglory, faced the beast Louisville (fifth). Others listed as Preakness probables, with their most recent result, include: Behindatthebar (won Grade II Lexington), Icabad Crane (won Federico Tesio), Hey Byrn (won Grade III Holy Bull), Giant Moon (fourth in the Grade I Wood Memorial), Harlem Rocker (won the Withers), Kentucky Bear (third in the Grade I Blue Grass), Racecar Rhapsody (fourth in the Lexington), Riley Tucker (third in the Lexington), Stevil (fourth in the Blue Grass), Tres Borrachos (third in the Grade II Arkansas Derby) and Yankee Bravo (fourth in the Grade I Santa Anita Derby).
Illinois Derby runner-up Golden Spikes joins the likes of Ready's Echo and intriguing Japanese invader Casino Drive for this afternoon's Grade II Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont. Casino Drive, a 12-length maiden winner, is the younger brother of the last two Belmont winners, Jazil and the filly Rags to Riches. In other 3-year-old action, El Gato Malo headlines a full field for the Grade III Lone Star Derby.
