D'Antoni accepts offer to coach Knicks
Mike D'Antoni has accepted an offer to coach the New York Knicks, eliminating him from contention for the Bulls' coaching vacancy.
SI.com first reported Saturday afternoon that D'Antoni, the former Phoenix Suns coach, agreed to join the Knicks for a reported $24 million over four years.
The Bulls were not interested in matching such an offer, which would make D'Antoni one of the NBA's highest-paid coaches.
With D'Antoni out of the picture, the Bulls are expected to meet with former Dallas coach Avery Johnson. The other top candidates on their list are Boston assistant Tom Thibodeau and Detroit assistant Michael Curry, both of whom are still working in the playoffs.
