Gun critics argue using faulty logic
In Sunday's edition of Fence Post, Ken Grimm states that guns in America kill over 20,000 lives a year, but nobody cares.
He asks if it is because the NRA owns our politicians and most Americans.
Using faulty logic such as his, I could cite the more than 40,000 deaths caused by cars in America and ask if General Motors owns our politicians and most Americans.
How about the 1.37 million deaths by abortion each year in our country? Does Planned Parenthood own our politicians and most Americans?
Face the facts Mr. Grimm, guns don't decide to kill people. Bad people make the decision to use guns in the commission of a crime.
How many gang members are members of the NRA? Probably none. How many members of the NRA commit crimes using guns? Almost none.
How about a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole for possessing a gun during the commission of a crime?
Makes sense to me and it would dramatically cut gun deaths in our country.
But it will never happen as long as there is an ACLU and idiots who blame crime on an inanimate object instead of criminals who choose to use it.
