Briefs: Stun gun used on man
Police went to a home on Wren Road in Carpentersville on Tuesday for a domestic battery call in which a woman suffered a gash on her forehead. The man they arrested resisted when police tried to arrest him. Police said he kicked the squad car's windows, head-butted the partition in the squad car, flailed his arms and kicked at officers before police used a stun gun on him twice. Ronnie J. Carter, 42, of 47 Wren Road, was charged with aggravated battery, domestic battery, resisting a police officer and two counts of assault, police said. Carter said in court he was on probation for a conviction of identification theft. Carter was unable to post his $10,000 and was taken to the Kane County jail. He is scheduled to appear in court again on May 23 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Elgin man sought
An arrest warrant has been issued for an Elgin man charged with possession of child pornography, authorities said Thursday. Christopher E. Newsom, 37, never showed at a hearing earlier this month, Kane County prosecutors said. Newsom, of the 400 block of Wing Park Boulevard, was indicted in mid-April on 18 child pornography offenses, stemming from a search of his home that netted a stash of sexually explicit images of children.
