New on DVD
These DVDs were released this week:
"I'm Not There"
Todd Haynes wrote and directed this film aimed at Bob Dylan fans. He used six different actors to portray the complex man, and each one represents a different time period in Dylan's life. The six stories do not flow together, but each one is unique. It is a fictionalized story, and only Cate Blanchett's role will have you truly identifying with the legendary singer. The soundtrack is filled with Dylan songs performed by him and others.
"P.S. I Love You"
Holly (Hillary Swank) and Gerry (Gerard Butler) are a loving couple with a great relationship. When Gerry dies, Holly becomes a recluse in her Manhattan apartment. On her 30th birthday, she gets a cake and a tape from Gerry instructing her to celebrate. From that point on she receives a series of letters that Gerry had planned for her, which will help her move forward and really enjoy life with the help of her family and friends.
"Over Her Dead Body"
Kate (Eva Longoria Parker) and Henry (Paul Rudd) are getting married, but on their wedding day, Kate is crushed by an ice sculpture. With the help of a psychic (Lake Bell), Henry begins to start dating again. Kate reappears on Earth as a ghost, and does what she can to sabotage Henry's relationship with the psychic. It is a fairy tale with a happy ending.
"The Business of Being Born"
Ricki Lake is the executive producer of this documentary exploring alternative options for bringing children into the world. Lake and director Abby Epstein show the history of maternity wards and midwives. Having babies is big business, and Lake shows another peaceful way by having her baby at home. It is informative and eye-opening, but should be seen by adults.
