Rain cancels Cougars game at Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After nearly a three-hour rain delay, Wednesday's game between the Kane County Cougars and West Michigan Whitecaps at Fifth Third Ballpark was canceled due to rain in the bottom of the first inning with no score.

The game will not be made up because the two teams do not play each other again in the first half of the season.

The Cougars (20-10)won the first two games of the three-game set to earn a rain-shortened sweep and now shift their road trip to Quad Cities for a four-game set starting Thursday at 7 p.m..

Craig Italiano (3-0, 1.24) is scheduled to pitch for the Cougars against Brian Broderick (0-2, 5.08). The Cougars return home Monday night to face the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
