Discover what types of native plants you can add to your yard.
The Lake County Forest Preserve District will hold its 11th annual native plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Independence Grove' North Bay Pavilion. The forest preserve is on Buckley Road, east of Milwaukee Avenue, near Libertyville.

60 That is how many varieties of sun loving, shade loving and savanna plants will be offered. For a complete list, visit the Web site www.lcfpd.org/plantsale.
$3.50 to $10 Flowers and grasses fall within this price range.
$25 This is the cost for a tree at the sale.
$20,000 That is how much money last year's native plant sale raised to support the forest preserves' "Enviro-Patrol," youth stewardship programs.
37 This year, there are 37 Lake County classes ranging from fourth grade through high school that adopt a forest preserve and work alongside naturalists to restore the preserve.
More plant sales
• The Gardeners of Central Lake County: 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, rain or shine at the Libertyville Civic Center loading dock, 135 W. Church St. across from Cook Library in downtown Libertyville.
The sale offers mature perennials, herbs and ground covers dug from local gardens.
• Prairie Crossing Charter School PSO and the Learning Farm: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the new shops at Station Square in Prairie Crossing, 977 Harris Road, in Grayslake.
Organically grown flower, vegetable and herb garden starts will be for sale. The event will feature free gardening classes, free crafts and activities for the kids, fresh organic produce, organic gardening products, locally made decor and a raffle.
• Antioch Garden Club: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Williams Park pavilion behind the library, which is at 757 N. Main St., Antioch.
Proceeds are used for horticulture scholarships, upkeep for four Antioch public gardens and seasonal decorating of Antioch's public buildings.
• Four Seasons Garden Club: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 25849 Crest Hill Drive, Barrington.
Plants, containers, garden magazines and other garden related items will be available.
• Field and Flower Garden Club: 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Barrington Jewel parking lot, 150 W. Main St.
Proceeds support philanthropies and programs of the club.
