No need for party, Passover to collide

It saddens and disappoints my family and me that Buffalo Grove is celebrating its birthday (with ice cream, hot dogs and birthday cake) during the Jewish celebration of Passover.

We enjoyed signing the time capsule, seeing pictures of our family and the growing area and eating delicious birthday cake March 9.

Unfortunately, this date also served as a reminder of this next event, which took take place April 27. Passover is a week-long festival that ends at sundown (after the 5 p.m. end time of the celebration) that day. Jews are restricted from eating bread (though our diet is more complicated during this week).

I want to instill good values, and I was hoping that a community celebration of this sort would be part of those good values. I know that we are not the only Jewish family in the area. This is a very well-known holiday across Buffalo Grove and beyond, and I feel it is very inconsiderate on your part to not take your population into account.
