Anti-tax groups ax tax ballot question

All Illinois taxpayers have to feel relieved that Senate Joint Resolution CA 92 was defeated on April 29. The bill would have put a graduated income tax increase on the fall ballot.

The vote in the Senate was 35 no and 19 yes. The only Lake County legislator voting to increase personal and corporate taxes was Democrat Sen. Terry Link of Waukegan, the Illinois senator renowned for taxing individuals and businesses out of the state.

The RALC, Republican Assembly of Lake County, joined other anti-tax groups in the week prior to the vote in phoning over 150,000 households in nine targeted districts asking that the taxpayers contact their legislator and vote no on the bill.

We were successful, and Illinois taxpayers, individuals and businesses have been saved from hundreds of millions of dollars in excessive taxes and businesses have been saved from further disintegration of their capital by Illinois Democrats.
