Why's there apathy over gun deaths?

Guns in America kill over 20,000 lives in a year, but nobody cares.

Is it because the NRA owns our politicians and most Americans?

Olympics would bring us shame

After the Olympic scandal in the squeaky clean city of Salt Lake City, the Olympic Committee is considering awarding the 2018 Olympics to the most corrupt city, Chicago, in the most corrupt county of Cook, in the most corrupt state of Illinois.

We have three former governors in jail. We have had 569 Illinois officials convicted of public corruption. We are only one of two states that does not have an ethics law. City and county corruption is well documented in newspaper articles.

The Olympics will give our government office holders more opportunities to embarrass the 99 percent of Illinois citizens who are victims of Illinois corruption and do not benefit from graft.

Help us by asking the city, state and county to pass a strong ethics bill and endorse the forming of an FBI-IRS task force, with twice the number of agents we have in Illinois now.

The new task force would help stop the hemorrhage of public money going to the friends and families of Illinois politicians.

The city of Chicago should have done this before applying to be an Olympic site. Democrats in Cook County are helping Gov. Blagojevich hold the state's Ethics Bill hostage -- a word that will be forever linked to the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Our democracy and better government for Illinois has been hijacked from honest taxpayers. Awarding the Olympics to Chicago would work against reform efforts.

Our Cook County area, west of O'Hare Airport, would vote to secede from Cook County and attach ourselves to scandal-free Lake County, if we were given this opportunity through referendum.
