It's been soggy so far
The first four months of this year are the third-wettest in Illinois on record. State Climatologist Jim Angel says April precipitation was 4.7 inches, 23 percent above average. The year-to-date precipitation total is 17.1 inches. That's when April precipitation is combined with wet conditions in January, February, and March. Only 1950 and 1898 were wetter. Angel says April statewide temperatures averaged 51.4 degrees, nearly one degree below average. Officials started keeping statewide records in 1895.
