New video, maps to promote Mundelein

Mundelein officials have unveiled two new tools to help promote the town.

Six short videos about the village, its schools, local parks and other amenities are available for viewing on the town's official Web site, www.mundelein-il.org.

Additionally, residents and visitors can pick up full-color, glossy maps of Mundelein that feature advertisements from local businesses and information about the community.

The videos and maps were produced by private companies at no cost to taxpayers, as advertising paid for the products, Assistant Village Administrator Michael Flynn said.

The maps and the videos were shown off during Monday night's village board meeting.

The videos, roughly one minute apiece, are part of a video tour book feature on Mundelein's Web site. They cover education, real estate, economic development, recreational opportunities and other topics.

Carmel Catholic High School, the Fremont Public Library, the Grand Dominion seniors-only housing development, the Community Days festival, the Park on Park car shows and many other local attractions are featured in the clips.

"They'll remain on the Web site for newcomers to see and enjoy," Flynn said.

The fold-out maps feature a new slogan for the village: "The Heart of Lake County," a reference to Mundelein being at the geographic center of the county.

Each document includes a street map of the village, a map of the entire county, photographs of the village and miscellaneous statistical information.

They're available at village hall and the participating advertisers.
