Algonquin arts show to adorn Fox River in May

The Village of Algonquin and Algonquin Public Arts Commission are organizing a fine arts show along the Fox River from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 31. The fine arts show will be held in Riverfront Park and is open to participation by artists who create work of original design and execution in a variety of media, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, glass and photography.

A nominal $15 entry fee is required and artists interested in applying for an exhibit space must complete and submit an application packet by May 5. For details, or to request an application, call village planner Ben Mason at (847) 658-4184.

The show is being sponsored in part by the Algonquin Public Arts Commission, which since 2005 has organized an annual public art program featuring artworks on display for one year in indoor and outdoor locations throughout the community.

Each year this award-winning program exhibits approximately 30 artworks on loan from local, regional, and national artists with the overall goal of making Algonquin's place in the Fox River Valley more unique.
