UOP to provide tech for new plant

DES PLAINES -- UOP LLC, a Honeywell company, said that ONGC Mangalore and Petrochemicals Ltd. have selected UOP to supply technology, engineering services and equipment for a new aromatics complex in Mangalore, India. The new petrochemical complex will produce para-xylene and benzene to support growing demand for these petrochemicals in Asia. Para-xylene is used to make polyester for fabric. Benzene is used to make polymers, plastics, resins and nylon.
